God of seafaring
 
Njordr is a major god of the Vanir and the father of Freyr and Freyja. He and his children were obliged to live in Asgard following the Aesir-Vanir war. His home, Noatun ("The Place of Ships"), is on the edge of the sea and his favor is sought by all seafarers. He is known for his easy-going manner and his great wealth (giving way to the expression "as rich as Njordr"). He was married for a time to Thjazi's daughter, Skadi.
